Our Choices & our Responsibility to Follow Through
by: June Val
Sometimes we make tough choices that challenges the very foundations of ego.
The inner battle commences as we experience all sorts of fears and unwanted emotions.
They are scary and may seem overwhelming; it is like walking through the gates of "hell", only this hell is personal and of our own doing.
Scene from Oz the Great & Powerful |
The essence of Pride is part of the aspect of ego. It guards the doorway to the heart, blocking your path. It whispers madness, and attempts to get you to turn away. Like the wizard of oz, it creates an illusion and makes you think it is all-powerful. It follows you around like a dark cloud until you decide enough is enough and just turn to face it.
This is the moment where you define who you truly are, you can either turn away, or continue repeating the same pattern over and over, or you can decide to endure what comes through that choice.
We tend to not follow through our choices because of the habit of listening to discouragements other than encouragements. It is all about choices in the end and how we endure the results. Sometimes those results comes in pairs, "good" and "bad", like when you marry you are told "for better or for worse" you are accepting the conditions that not everything will go smoothly, everything has its challenges for personal and spiritual growth. But because we become picky and would rather not deal with negativity, we reject that aspect and attempt to only let in the "good" and deny the "bad" instead of integrating both at the same time. Doing so, feeds our shadow even more.
But because we have been conditioned through old programming’s we have the responsibility to undue this or continue inside our "comfort zones" and not do anything about the situation we are currently in. This is where we become stuck in life and unable to move forward. The unwillingness to accept and receive after asking becomes critical at this point, and we are faced with the choice, to accept the "bad" along with the "good" or not accept any and remain where we are until the next reincarnation.
The world is a reflection, and the clues are staring at us right in front of our faces. To run away is easy, but it is only a temporary false sanctuary that falls apart the more the shadow goes unhealed. The shadow's presence becomes known the more the ego is allowed to suppress it. The shadow becomes a monster the more unhealed it goes, but the shadow's true essence, is that of innocence, of the child.
In the end, it is our pride, and our personal circle of beliefs that enslaves us. Chained to the wall and lamenting the past, we end up in the depression of our own doing. We are our own worse enemy, but if chosen to accept all that is, we become our own best friend, even if the dark cloud rains on us, we have the choice to remain in the heart, the true sanctuary filled with courage. It is the true kingdom of heaven, even if the day happens to be raining on your parade. We can choose to dance and move forward without fear.
