Food for a Thought: Role Playing Games

I played my first RPG or table top role playing game in 1979 and do enjoy putting together simple little games with my son (our own rules, 3 dice and the emphasis is on storytelling and immediate action, usually with a great deal of humor thrown in).
I’ve had the itch to play one again, and this leads me to some Food for Thought….
- If you could be anyone or anything other than yourself, what or who would you be?
- How long would you step into that role/character?
- How similar is your character to who you are in real life?
- How different is your character to who you are in real life?
- In real life, are you a character? Are you a stereotype?
- Have you ever played a Role Playing Game? If so, where you a leader or a follower?
- What can you do as a game player that you can not do in Life? If you could do it in real life, would you?
- A role playing game lets you live anywhere at anytime. Where would your world be?
- How would you open a door in a dark dungeon?
- How brave would you be in an RPG? How would you face the same situation in real life?
- Would you like to take on the role of God? If you were God, what would you do?
- Have you ever played an RPG and had a character die? How did you react? How about those who you played with?
- How much Play is in your Role?
- Would you reveal your true shadow side in a character?
- Take a moment and think of who you would want to be if you were in a movie/RPG. Build it up, consider all the aspects, how real is it?
Besides, I’ve laughed my butt off with tears in my eyes from the antics I’ve gotten myself into, and I’ve said things that my son shall pass on to his kids some day
Want to get started?
Use one dice and ask a question that needs a Yes/No or decision type (A or B) answer. Use 1-3 as Yes or (A), 4-6 as No or (B).
Now, create a character (Be anything that you want!) and start asking questions, throwing the dice. Only your imagination will limit where you go from there.
Enjoy!
Paul
